Does it lock in the closed and open position when operating the slide control on the side of the tool?

Yes, the blade is always locked firmly. There are 3 stop positions to choose when you operate the slide control. At each stop, the blade is locked firm enough for you to cut anything. And when you finish your work, remember to pull the slide control full back so the blade is completely retracted to the handle.

Could it use other brand of #11 blades?

The Nova craft knife allows user to easily replace the blade with a new one as it is compatible with the very popular #11 fine point blade.

What can I use this knife for? Does it have good cutting angles?

Ultimate versatile! Perfect for modeling, crafting, industrial cutting, car wrapings. It has 45° and 60° angles for best cuts.

Everything was delivered perfectly. I opened it up and tried to open up the cap/front of the blade holder, I discovered that the push tab was broken off. The missing piece was not in the packaging so they actually sent broken. I know that because the bag it comes in was sealed. I wonder if QC missed or they just said "ship it", either way that's not right.I can mod it and make it work but I shouldn't have to. Hopefully the manufacturer will send me a new blade holder free of charge and if they don't either answer this review, or my request to the shipper, I will return it. I did give it 3 stars because of the blades, they are good and the quantity is sufficient. That's the main reason I decided on this option above all of the competition out there.

Perfect

Loved it so much the first time I bought me a second one. I carry it all day at work (pharmacy) and use it very often. Blades are easy to change, and extremely sharp. If I break it, im definitely buying another one.
