The is a great utility knife but is made extremely sturdily and has fantastic features with the screwdrivers and other tools as well as multi blade storage. I would highly recommend to anyone!
I received this tool as a gift and was surprised how useful it is. It is made very well and is easy to use.
This Nova multi-tool utility knife exceeded my expectations and has quickly become an essential part of my toolkit. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I'm really impressed with what you get for the price.
The knife comes with 5 spare blades plus one that's already installed, so you're set for quite a while. The spare blades come in this neat little dispenser where you can just pull one out with your thumb when you need it. What's really nice is that you can refill the dispenser with more blades as you use them up, so it's not just a one-time thing.
One of the things I really appreciate is the safety features. Both the blade and the screwdriver have lock mechanisms that prevent them from opening accidentally, but also from closing over your fingers. That's a really thoughtful touch that gives me confidence when I'm using this tool.
The build quality seems solid for what it is. The body is made of plastic, but there's definitely an internal metal structure keeping everything together. The aluminum mechanism and stainless steel blade holder feel premium, and I don't anticipate any durability issues with regular use. It's clearly designed as a functional tool rather than a luxury item, which is exactly what I wanted for my everyday DIY tasks around the house.
Changing blades is incredibly easy. You just press firmly on the button on the side of the blade holder and it releases. You can flip or replace the blade in seconds without any hassle. The quick-change system works perfectly and accepts standard utility blades, so you're not locked into one specific type.
What makes this more than just a utility knife is all the extra functionality. When the blade is closed, there's a pry bar that's great for opening paint cans or anything that needs prying. It's part of that internal metal structure I mentioned, so it should handle plenty of torque without damage. There's also a slot that works as a nail puller, plus both Phillips and flat head screwdriver options and a cord cutting notch.
Here's something that wasn't prominently mentioned in the product description that I discovered: the handle has a built-in storage compartment for spare blades. This is awesome because you can carry extras without having to remember to bring them separately. Between this and the blade dispenser, you're really set for extended use.
The carry system is well thought out too. The secure belt clip and lanyard hole make it easy to carry hands-free, and having that integrated blade storage keeps spare blades right where you need them.
Overall, this is a fantastic utility knife that delivers on all fronts. It's perfect for everyday DIY tasks around the house and would definitely work for professional use too. The combination of safety features, solid build quality, and thoughtful design make this an easy 5-star recommendation. Great value for the price, and it's definitely going to stay in my everyday toolkit.
So I don’t think I’m going to surprise anybody by saying that this is essentially a Milwaukee fastback utility knife. But that’s not a bad thing. The fastback six and one is still probably one of the best utility knives out there, and they say that imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, and in many ways this utility knife is comparable to a fast back, with one or two minor issues. See However, I’m still giving it five stars because what it may lack in feel it makes up for in utility. It has the same tool set essentially as a fast back, but instead of the, in my opinion, worthless bottle opener that apparently all companies feel they need to put on every tool ever nowadays, this one has a pry bar area, which actually works quite well at least for me. I like to use this one at work, and I tried out the pry bar feature on our chemical cans that we use to pop the lids. It works absolutely wonderfully. I’ve also used it to have to pry open or leverage several other things, and so far it hasn’t broken. I actually really like the screwdriver on this one as you can more easily fit other quarter-size bits now if you do swap it out and use a more standard quarter-inch bit. You can’t leave it in there because, like the fast back, when you go to fold it back in, there’s not enough space. You can lock the screwdriver at 90°, which is a nice feature to have. The knife itself opens and closes flawlessly with the button lock change. It’s easy, and the one thing that this has over the fast back is instead of one blade, it carries two, and a nice little pop-out dispenser similar to many other utility knives on the market. The one area where this doesn’t feel good is just the handle, while it is a little more contoured and feels more comfortable. It also feels more like cheap plastic, but other than that, I really can’t complain, and for the price of this thing, it’s an absolute steal, so you essentially get all the go-to features of the fast back but for much cheaper. What I replace all the fastbacks I own probably not, but these are fantastic for me to keep it work as I can open my boxes, cut wrapped-up ribbon, pry open my chemical container, and unscrew things if I have to, so I would definitely recommend trying this out. It’s a wonderful knife.
